Daniel’s 70th Week & The Abomination of Desolation (Question #2)

Q:  Your explanation of Dan.9:25-27 fits together beautifully in my view, except for one question I have.  In verse 27 you explain that the Lord Jesus Christ takes away the animal sacrifices by becoming the true sacrifice Himself in the midst of the 70th week. If he was cut off at this time, in the midst of the 70th week, how could He have also been cut off after three score and two weeks in verse 26? This is all that I can find that does not seem to fit. Could you explain?

A:  Actually Daniel 9, verses 26 and 27 are referring to two different aspects of what happened as a consequence of Messiah being crucified at Golgotha.  In verse 26, the angel goes on to tell Daniel that after Messiah is cut off (crucified-explained in detail below), the city and the sanctuary will be destroyed (explained in detail below).

In verse 27, the angel is explaining to Daniel that Messiah will confirm a covenant with many for a week (when Jesus established the New Covenant of His blood), and in the middle of the week (after 3.5 yrs, when Messiah is crucified mentioned back in v. 26) He shall cause sacrifice and oblation to cease (the Levitical Priesthood and system of animal sacrifices was terminated, abolished).  Barnes, Clarke and Jamiesson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentaries do a great job of explaining this in great detail. Read below:

 Daniel 9:26

And after threescore and two weeks--that is, the threescore and two weeks that follow the seven weeks; in other words, after sixty-nine weeks, and during the seventieth week. If we reckon, as some eminent chronologists do, the date of Artaxerxes' decree to rebuild Jerusalem from the year before Christ 454, sixty-nine weeks of years bring us to A.D. 29, which is about the time of our Lord's entrance upon his public ministry. If, with others, we reckon from the year 449 before Christ, this brings us to A.D. 34, or about the time of his death. This is as near as we can hope to come, considering that neither the time of Artaxerxes' decree, or of our Lord's birth and baptism, is exactly settled.

In this verse, and in Daniel 9:27, Messiah is made the prominent subject, while the fate of the city and sanctuary are secondary, being mentioned only in the second halves of the verses. Messiah appears in a twofold aspect, salvation to believers, judgment on unbelievers (Lu 2:34; compare Mal 3:1-6; 4:1-3).  In the week leading to His crucifixion, He repeatedly connects His being "cut off" with the destruction of the city, as cause and effect (Mt 21:37-41; 23:37-38). Israel might naturally expect Messiah's kingdom of glory, if not after the seventy years' captivity, at least at the end of the sixty-two weeks; but, instead of that, shall be His death, and the consequent destruction of Jerusalem

Messiah shall be cut off,-- It would apply to one who was assassinated, or murdered by a mob, or who was appointed to death by a judicial decree; or it might be applied to one who was cut down in battle, or by the pestilence, or by lightning, or by shipwreck, but it would not naturally or properly be applied to one who had lived out his days, and died a peaceful death. We always now connect with the word the idea of some unusual interposition, as when we speak of one who is cut down in middle life. The ancient translators understood it of a violent death. So the Latin "Vulgate, Syriac, "the Messiah shall be slain," or put to death.

It need not be here said that this phrase would find a complete fulfillment in the manner in which the Lord Jesus was put to death, nor that this is the very language in which it is proper now to describe the manner in which he was removed. He was cut off by violence; by a judicial decree: by a mob; in the midst of his way, etc. If it should be admitted that the angel meant to describe the manner of his death, he could not have found a single word that would have better expressed it.

But not for himself ---"but not for himself" - was undoubtedly adopted from the common view of the atonement - that the Messiah did not die for himself, but that his life was given as a ransom for others. It seems probable to me that this is the fair interpretation. The Messiah would come as a "Prince." It might be expected that he would come to rule - to set up a kingdom. But he would be suddenly cut off by a violent death.

The anticipated dominion over the people as a prince would not be set up. It would not pertain to him. Thus suddenly cut off, the expectations of such a rule would be disappointed and blasted. He would in fact set up no such dominion as might naturally be expected of an anointed prince; he would have no successor; the dynasty would not remain in his hands or his family, and soon the people of a foreign prince would come and would sweep all away. This interpretation does not suppose that the real object of his coming would be thwarted, or that he would not set up a kingdom in accordance with the prediction properly explained, but that such a kingdom as would be expected by the people would not be set up.

This interpretation, indeed, will take this passage away as a proof-text of the doctrine of the atonement, or as affirming the design of the death of the Messiah, but it furnishes a meaning as much in accordance with the general strain of the prophecy, and with the facts in the work of the Messiah. For it was a natural expectation that when he came he would set up a kingdom - a temporal reign - and this expectation was extensively cherished among the people. He was, however, soon cut off, and all such hopes at once perished in the minds of his true followers (compare Lu 24:21), and in the minds of the multitudes who, though not his true followers, began to inquire whether he might not be the predicted Messiah - the Prince to sit on the throne of David.

All these expectations were blighted by his sudden death, and soon, instead of his delivering the nation from bondage and setting up a visible kingdom, a foreign prince would come with his forces and would sweep away everything. Whether this would be the interpretation affixed to these words before the advent of the Messiah cannot now be determined. We have few remains of the methods in which the Hebrews interpreted the ancient prophecies, and we may readily suppose that they would not be disposed to embrace an exposition which would show them that the reign of the Messiah, as they anticipated it, would not occur, but that almost as soon as he appeared, he would be put to death, and the dominion pass away, and the nation be subjected to the ravages of a foreign power.

The people of the prince that shall come---the Romans, led by Titus, the representative of the world power, ultimately to be transferred to Messiah, and so called by Messiah's title, "the Prince"; as also because sent by Him, as His instrument of judgment (Mt 22:7). Margin, "And they (the Jews) shall be no more his people; or, the Prince's (Messiah's) future people." This seems to be rather an explanation of the meaning, than a translation of the Hebrew.

The literal rendering would be, "and the city, and the sanctuary, the people of a prince that comes, shall lay waste." On the general supposition that this whole passage refers to the Messiah and his time, the language used here is not difficult of interpretation, and denotes with undoubted accuracy the events that soon followed the "cutting off" of the Messiah. The word "people" (am) is a word that may well be applied to subjects or armies - such a people as an invading prince or warrior would lead with him for purposes of conquest. It denotes properly

Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;--- The "holy place" - the temple. This is the termination of the prophecy. It begins with the command to "rebuild and restore" the city, and ends with its destruction. The time is not fixed, nor is there in the prophecy any direct intimation when it would occur, unless it is found in the general declaration in Daniel 9:24, that "seventy weeks were determined upon the people and the city." The whole scope of the prophecy, however, would lead to the supposition that this was soon to occur after the Messiah should be "cut off." The series of events under the Romans which led to the destruction of the city and temple, in fact, began very soon after the death of the Lord Jesus, and ceased only when the temple was wholly demolished, and the city was razed to its foundations.

Its end shall be with a flood---basheteph --namely, of war (Ps 90:5; Isa 8:7; 28:18). Implying the completeness of the catastrophe, "not one stone left on another." That is, it shall be like an overflowing flood. The word used here means a "gushing, outpouring," as of rain, Job 38:25; of a torrent, Pr 27:4; an overflowing, inundation, flood, Ps 32:6; Na 1:8. Hence, it would appropriately denote the ravages of an army, sweeping everything away. It would be like a sudden inundation, carrying everything before it. No one can doubt that this language is applicable in every respect to the desolations brought upon Jerusalem by the Roman armies.

And unto the end of the war desolations are determined --- The literal meaning of the passage is, "and unto the end of the war desolations are decreed," or determined. The word rendered "determined" (charats) means, properly, to cut, cut in, engrave; then to decide, to determine, to decree, to pass sentence. See the notes at Daniel 9:24. Here the meaning naturally is that such desolations were settled or determined as by a decree or purpose. There was something which made them certain; that is, it was a part of the great plan here referred to in the vision of the seventy weeks, that there should be such desolations extending through the war. The things which would, therefore, be anticipated from this passage would be: "It shall be cut off by desolations; by God's decree (Isa 10:23; 28:22).

These desolations would extend through the war, or to its close. There would be no intermission; no cessation. It is hardly necessary to say that this was, in fact, precisely the character of the war which the Romans waged with the Jews after the death of the Savior, and which ended in the destruction of the city and temple; the overthrow of the whole Hebrew polity; and the removal of great numbers of the people to a distant and perpetual captivity. No war, perhaps, has been in its progress more marked by desolation; in none has the purpose of destruction been more perseveringly manifested to its very close. The "language" here, indeed, might apply to many wars - in a certain sense to all wars; to none, however, would it be more appropriate than to the wars of the Romans with the Jews.

Daniel 9:27

And he shall confirm the covenantJesus Christ. The confirmation of the covenant is assigned to Him also elsewhere. Isa 42:6, "I will give thee for a covenant of the people" (that is, He in whom the covenant between Israel and God is personally expressed).

The new covenant of grace which was ratified by his death. (Jeremiah 31:31, Hebrews 8:6-13; Luke 22:20, "The new testament in My blood"; Mal 3:1, "the angel of the covenant"; Jeremiah 31:31-34, describes the Messianic covenant in full. Contrast Daniel 11:30,32, "forsake the covenant," "do wickedly against the covenant." The prophecy as to Messiah's confirming the covenant with many would comfort the faithful in Antiochus' times, who suffered partly from persecuting enemies, partly from false friends.

With many--- these are his spiritual seed in all ages. Ps 22:30; Isa 53:11; Mt 20:28; 26:28; Ro 5:15,19).

For one week--- that is, within the one week. The words of the angel assert simply, that this transaction takes place in the seventieth week.

in . . . midst of . . . week---The seventy weeks extend to A.D. 33. Israel was not actually destroyed till A.D. 79, but it was so virtually, A.D. 33, about three or four years after Christ's death, during which the Gospel was preached exclusively to the Jews. When the Jews persecuted the Church and stoned Stephen (Ac 7:54-60), the respite of grace granted to them was at an end (Lu 13:7-9). Israel, having rejected Christ, was rejected by Christ, and henceforth is counted dead (compare Ge 2:17 with Ge 5:5; Ho 13:1-2), its actual destruction by Titus being the consummation of the removal of the kingdom of God from Israel to the Gentiles (Mt 21:43), which is not to be restored until Christ's second coming, when Israel shall be at the head of humanity (Mt 23:39; Ac 1:6-7). The interval forms for the covenant-people a great parenthesis.

he shall cause the sacrifice . . . oblation to cease--The word "he," in this place, refers to the Messiah, if the interpretation of the former part of the verse is correct, for there can be no doubt that it is the same person who is mentioned in the phrase "he shall confirm the covenant with many." The words "sacrifice" and "oblation" refer to the offerings made in the temple. The former word more properly denotes "bloody" offerings; the latter "offerings" of any kind - whether of flour, fruits, grain, etc. See these words explained in the notes at Isa 1:11, Isa 1:13.

The word rendered "cease" (yashebyt) means, properly, to rest (from the word Sabbath), and then in Hiphil, to cause to rest, or to cause to cease. It conveys the idea of "putting an end to" - as, for example, "war," Ps 46:9; "contention," Pr 18:18; "exultation," Isa 16:10. - Gesenius. The literal signification here would be met by the supposition that an end would be made of these sacrifices, and this would occur either by their being made wholly to cease to be offered at that time, or by the fact that the object of their appointment was accomplished, and that henceforward they would be useless and would die away.

As a matter of fact, so far as the Divine intention in the appointment of these sacrifices and offerings was concerned, they "ceased" at the death of Christ - in the middle of the "week." Then the great sacrifice which they had adumbrated was offered. Then they ceased to have any significancy, no reason existing for their longer continuance. Then, as they never had had any efficacy in themselves, they ceased also to have any propriety as types - for the thing which they had prefigured had been accomplished. Then, too, began a series of events and influences which led to their abolition, for soon they were interrupted by the Romans, and the temple and the altars were swept away to be rebuilt no more.

By the one offering of himself, he accomplished that which the daily sacrifice and oblation typified. Thus he made them no longer necessary, and God soon afterwards abolished them by the hand of the Romans.  The death of Christ was, in fact, the thing which made them to cease, and the fact that the great atonement has been made, and that there is now no further need of those offerings, is the only philosophical reason which can be given why the Jews have never been able again to rebuild the temple, and why for eighteen hundred years they have found no place where they could again offer a bloody sacrifice. The "sacrifice and the oblation" were made, as the result of the coming of the Messiah, to "cease" for ever, and no power of man will be able to restore them again in Jerusalem. Compare Gibbon's account of the attempt of Julian to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem: Dec. and Fall, ii. 35-37.

The rending of the veil marked the cessation of sacrifices through Christ's death (Le 4:6; 16:2,15). There cannot be a covenant without sacrifice (Ge 8:20; 9:17; 15:9; Heb 9:15). Here the old covenant is to be confirmed, but in a way peculiar to the New Testament, namely, by the one sacrifice, which would terminate all sacrifices (Ps 40:6,11). Thus as the Levitical rites approached their end, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel, with ever increasing clearness, oppose the spiritual new covenant to the transient earthly elements of the old.

And for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate---On account of the abominations committed by the unholy people against the Holy One, He shall not only destroy the city and sanctuary (Da 9:25), but shall continue its desolation until the time of the consummation "determined" by God (the phrase is quoted from Isa 10:22-23), when at last the world power shall be judged and dominion be given to the saints of the Most High (Da 7:26-27).

AUBERLEN translates, "On account of the desolating summit of abominations (compare Da 11:31; 12:11; thus the repetition of the same thing as in Da 9:26 is avoided), and till the consummation which is determined, it (the curse, Da 9:11, foretold by Moses) will pour on the desolated." Israel reached the summit of abominations, which drew down desolation (Mt 24:28), nay, which is the desolation itself, when, after murdering Messiah, they offered sacrifices, Mosaic indeed in form, but heathenish in spirit (compare Isa 1:13; Eze 5:11). Christ refers to this passage (Mt 24:15), "When ye see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place" (the latter words being tacitly implied in "abominations" as being such as are committed against the sanctuary).

SIR ISAAC NEWTON explains the wing ("overspreading") of abominations to be the Roman ensigns (eagles) brought to the east gate of the temple, and there sacrificed to by the soldiers; the war, ending in the destruction of Jerusalem, lasted from spring A.D. 67 to autumn A.D. 70, that is, just three and a half years, or the last half week of years [JOSEPHUS, Wars of the Jews, 6.6]. "The desolator" of which it speaks is the Roman power. Our Savior himself interpreted these words of the Roman hosts standing in the holy place. Mt 24:15; Mr 13:14 Compare Luke 21:20.

The language of the Savior in his reference to this would seem to demand such an interpretation, Mt 24:15 : "When ye, therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet stand in the holy place," etc. There can be no reasonable doubt. that the Savior refers to this passage in Daniel (see the notes at Mt 24:15), or that events occurred in the attack on Jerusalem and the temple that would fully correspond with the language used here.

Josephus, for instance, says, that when the city was taken, the Romans brought their ensigns into the temple, and placed them over the eastern gate, and sacrificed to them there. "And now the Romans," says he, "upon the flight of the seditious into the city, and upon the burning of the holy house itself, and all the buildings round about it, brought their ensigns into the temple, and set them over against its eastern gate; and there they did offer sacrifices to them, and there did they make Titus "Imperator" with the greatest acclamations of joy." - "Jewish Wars," b. vi. ch. vi. Section 1. This fact fully accords with the meaning of the language as above explained, and the reference to it was demanded in order that the purpose of the prophecy should be complete. Its proper termination is the destruction of the city and temple - as its beginning is the order to rebuild them.

Even until the consummation--- Until the completion - yead - kalah. That is, the series of events in the prophecy shall in fact reach to the completion of everything pertaining to the city and temple. The whole purpose in regard to that shall be completed. The design for which it is robe rebuilt shall be consummated; the sacrifices to be offered there shall be finished, and they shall be no longer efficacious or proper; the whole civil and religious polity connected with the city and temple shall pass away.

and that determined--- venecheratsah. See this word explained in the notes at Da 9:24, Da 9:26. See also the notes at Isa 10:23. There seems to be an allusion in the word here to its former use, as denoting that this is the fulfillment of the determination in regard to the city and temple. The idea is, that what was determined, or decided on, to wit, with reference to the closing scenes of the city and temple, would be accomplished.

Shall be poured --- tttak. The word used here means to pour, to pour out, to overflow - as rain, water, curses, anger, etc. It may be properly applied to calamity or desolation, as these things may be represented as "poured down" upon a people, in the manner of a storm. Compare 2Sa 21:10; Ex 9:33; Ps 11:6; Eze 38:22; 2Ch 34:21; 12:7; Jer 7:20; 42:18; 44:6.

Upon the desolate--- Margin, desolator. The Hebrew word  (shomem ) is the same, though in another form (kal instead of pel ) which is used in the previous part of the verse, and rendered "he shall make it desolate," but which is proposed above to be rendered "desolator." The verb shamem is an intransitive verb, and means, in "Kal," the form used here, to be astonished or amazed; then "to be laid waste, to be made desolate" (Gesenius); and the meaning in this place, therefore, is that which is desolate or laid waste - the wasted, the perishing, the solitary. The reference is to Jerusalem viewed as desolate or reduced to ruins. The angel perhaps contemplates it, as he is speaking, in ruins or as desolate, and he sees this also as the termination of the entire series of predictions, and, in view of the whole, speaks of Jerusalem appropriately as "the desolate."

The consummation, and that determined---the completion of Jerusalem's overthrow as determined by God. Though it would be rebuilt, yet it would be again reduced to desolation, for the purpose of the rebuilding - the coming of the Messiah - would be accomplished. As the prophecy finds Jerusalem a scene of ruins, so it leaves it, and the last word in the prophecy, therefore, is appropriately the word "desolate." The intermediate state indeed between the condition of the city as seen at first and at the close is glorious - for it embraces the whole work of the Messiah; but the beginning is a scene of ruins, and so is the close.

The sum of the whole in the latter part of the verse may be expressed in a free paraphrase: "He, the Messiah, shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease," by having fulfilled in his own death the design of the ancient offerings, thus rendering them now useless, and upon the outspreading - upon the temple regarded as spread out, or some wing or portico, there are seen abominable things - idolatrous ensigns, and the worship of foreigners. A desolator is there, also, come to spread destruction - a foreign army or leader. And this shall continue even to the end of the whole matter - the end of the events contemplated by the prophecy - the end of the city and the temple. And what is determined on - the destruction decreed - shall be poured out like a tempest on the city doomed to desolation - desolate as surveyed at the beginning of the prophecy - desolate at the close, and therefore appropriately called "the desolate."

The Destruction of The Temple Versus The Second Coming of Christ

Q:  In Mathew 24:1-3, was Jesus referring  to the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD or was He referring to the His second coming and the end of the age?

A:  In order to understand the above scripture, we must understand that the disciples of Jesus asked Him two questions.  One deals with the timing of the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem (blue); the second question deals with His second coming and the end of the age(red).  Jesus answers both questions, going back and forth from one question to the other.  Sometimes His answer applies to both questions (green).  It takes a trained eye and discernment to know when one ends and the other begins.  Let us take a look at what it says in Mathew 24:1-31:

"And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See you not all these things? Verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying: Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand) Then let them who are in Judea flee into the mountains: Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: Neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child and to them that nurse a child in those days! But pray you that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Therefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning came out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wherever the carcass is, there will the vultures be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."  Matthew 24:1-31

Some believe that all of if already took place, while others believe that none of this has taken place at all.  It is my opinion that both of these views are flawed, and leads to major confusion, and a lack of understanding of the times that we are in.  Jesus talked about the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem and shared some of the signs that would precede it to warn the believers.  He also clearly told them what to do when they saw the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet stand in the holy place.  The meaning of what the Lord is saying here is not very clear until you read the same passage in Luke 21:20-24:

"And when you shall see Jerusalem surrounded with armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let them who are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them who are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter into it. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child and to them that nurse children, in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

This clearly shows that the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet Jesus was referring to is in fact the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and the city by the Roman armies under Titus in 70 AD.  This was explained in more detail in the previous question that we addressed.  The Jews that were not killed by the sword were scattered into all the nations, as Jerusalem was trodden down by Gentiles until 1948 AD.  However, we know that some of the things that Jesus said have not happened yet: neither the sun nor the moon has been darkened yet; the stars have not fallen from heaven and the powers of the heavens have not been shaken.  This is exactly what the Book of Revelation says that will happen with the opening of the sixth seal in the book of Revelation 6:12-17:

"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts its unripe figs, when it is shaken by a mighty wind. And the heavens departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island was moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the generals , and the mighty men, and every slave, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks: Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"  Revelation 6:12-17

This is referring to the Day of the Lord, when Jesus Christ will return in power and great glory to first gather His Bride, and then destroy the kingdom of the beast, along with everyone else who took the mark of the beast on planet earth, and go out to make war with Him.  Once we understand this, there will be no more confusion and His people will know what to expect, and how to appropriately prepare for it.

The Brown Dwarf, Elenin and Nibiru

Q:  I am confused; Please give me some understanding.  Is Nibiru the same planet as Elenin? Or are there two dwarf stars?  Some man says it is 8 times the size of earth and is going to collide with the earth.  It is somewhat confusing.

A:  There is a lot of confusion because no one knows for sure and the scientists and governments of the earth are not telling. The Brown Dwarf (Destroyer, Wormwood, The Great Red Dragon, Nemesis) is the smaller twin sun of our binary solar system according to brilliant researcher Immanuel Velikovsky, the controversial author of "Worlds in Collision" and several other books on catastrophism based on his research into Sumerian culture.  Nibiru, Planet X and Planet of the Crossing is the name of one of the planets that orbits both suns (with its own moons in tow) in a trajectory that takes approximately 3,600+ years.

Destroyer (the 2nd Sun) is approximately 5-6 times the size of Jupiter, but still quite small compared to our Sun.  it has its own mini solar system with orbiting planets, moons, comets, the whole 9 yards.  It is dragging a massive asteroid/dust cloud behind it.  Whenever it comes into our solar system every 3,600 yrs or so, it comes from the south at an angle to the galactic plane of our solar system around our sun and then heads back into outer space for another 3,600+ yr orbit.

However, whenever this happens one of its orbiting planets Nibiru/Planet X/Planet of the Crossing, along with its moons and debris field comes close to our Sun and is pulled into an orbit around our Sun that brings it dangerously close to planet earth.  Comet Elenin matches this event extremely well, which is why some believe that Comet Elenin may in fact be Nibiru.  Others like myself believe that Elenin is just a Harbinger of the real neutron star which may in fact be coming a few light years right behind it.  The danger presented to planet earth depends on where planet earth happens to be in our solar system in reference to Nibiru when this happens.

If planet Earth happens to be on the opposite side of the Sun when this event takes place, it would be the best case scenario as far as we are concerned.  This scenario would produce severe earthquakes, massive landslides, volcanic activity, floodings, droughts, giant sinkholes, perturbation of the magnetic north pole, massive weather disturbances, and large die-offs of animal, fish and bird life forms.  That would be pretty much what would happen under that best case scenario, which is probably what took place the last time this happened during the time of Moses and the Exodus of God's people from Egypt.  We have been seeing all of the above things taking place on planet Earth in the last couple of years at an increasing rate.

However, if planet Earth happens to be on the same side of the Sun when Nibiru comes around, the consequences could be much more catastrophic than what is mentioned above.  I am afraid that it is this latter scenario that our planet may experience in the very near future.  Yeshua himself said:

Matthew 24:21-22 "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."

Matthew 24:29-31:  "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

Luke 21:25-27  "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking toward those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."

The magnetic pull from this object could actually slow or speed up the orbit of planet Earth, even cause to stop rotating.  This would cause a momentary lack of gravity to take place on planet earth.  Another thing that will most likely happen would be meteors and asteroid hitting the earth and causing great damage as mentioned in the Bible:

Revelation 8:1-13 "And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire from the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices and thunderings and lightnings and an earthquake. And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shined not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through midheaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!"

Scientific Facts Confirming How Wormwood Will Fulfill Bible Prophecy

Nibiru, WWIII and Armageddon

Q: I’ve read through a large amount of your posts on prophetic dreams and visions plus the Questions & Answers groupings. My big question at this point is this: With Nibiru sitting out there and still so many in authority across the government saying it does not exist or simply bringing on a mute attitude, where is Nibiru now and why and how can it be in a holding pattern?  I know that worldly events are coming together at break neck speed, and it has taken ages for this to come about.  Could a viable discussion on an idea that has been gnawing at my mind be plausible?  Namely, that God is not about to let the devil force his hand and bring it all to a head?

Could God have something else in mind?  I have toyed with the idea that God could just be ready to push the reset button and let nature take its course as he did with Nimrod and Noah.  Or, is this really it, and God is going to use Nibiru to reset the clock for the 1,000 year reign after Armageddon? Not that God needs a huge planet to do anything for him.  I keep asking myself why God would put those who survive this coming WWWIII and tribulation back on a planet that has so many nuclear and other unknown pollutions?

A:  You have asked some very good and interesting questions.  There is much going on that the public is not being told by the media.  Wormwood is still incoming and getting close very  fast.  It has already entered our solar system, and is beginning to pick up speed as it approaches the sun.  Although I am no expert in planetary bodies dynamics, I do know that the effect this object has on our planet depends on where planet earth happens to be in relation to it at any specific time.  Whenever it is in alignment with it, earthquakes will increase in both frequency and intensity.  Same with Volcanoes.  Right now it is still coming from under the ecliptic, which means it is difficult to see it in the northern hemisphere.  However, once it crosses the ecliptic everyone will be able to see it in the northern hemisphere.

Regarding whether God is going to use Nibiru to reset the clock for the 1,000 year reign, I believe you may be correct.  He has used this planet in the past to bring about His divine purposes on the earth, and He will do so again.  If you read the scriptures, you will notice that comets, meteors, asteroids and this object have been used in the past as weapons of divine judgment by the Almighty; the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah as well as the Exodus, are the most notorious.

Regarding your question about the survivors of WWIII & the tribulation being placed back on a polluted, contaminated planet, I would answer in this manner: once the cataclysmic events take place on the earth in the near future, by the time they are finished there will not be any more pollution left on the earth.  Parts of this world will completely sink to the bottom of the sea, and in other places brand new land will emerge from the bottom of the sea.  In some places, the earth will open up and swallow large chunks of cities and areas.  The Earth itself is going to be purged with fire as it is written in 2 Peter 3:7:

"But the heavens and the earth, which now are, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men."

Also in 2 Peter 3:10-12:  "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conduct and godliness, Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"

And again in Revelation 8:7-12:  "The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shined not for a third part of it, and the night likewise."

Armageddon is the war to end all wars that the book of Revelation talks about.  However, It is not WW3 which will be a devastating nuclear war that will decimate the population of the earth and devastate the planet.  Armageddon is the war that the NWO people will wage against the coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords to take back possession of the Earth and its inhabitants.

In this war, these evil entities will use every weapon in their arsenal, including weapons containing alien fallen angel technology, to try to destroy the King of Glory and stop Him from taking lawful possession of planet Earth.  They have been working at building these weapons now for many years in secret underground bases, in conjunction with the 'aliens' (fallen angels, nephillims, hybrids etc.)  The weapons that they have at their disposal is nothing short of science fiction. This sounds strange, but as the saying goes: "truth is stranger than fiction."

DELIVERANCE

Q:  If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you for Godly counsel. Tell me; is it biblical that when a person is being delivered from demons they have to cough it out?  The church we have been attending the last few weeks, hands out cups and napkins and when they begin to take authority and command demons out they tell everyone to cough and the demons will come out. In my spirit I knew this wasn't right. Even though I have seen a person vomits a time or two when taking them through deliverance.  I can find this no place in the word of God.  I felt strongly we were not to return.  Could you please counsel me and tell me what your take is on this.  Shalom and Thank you-

A:  I have been ministering deliverance for 30 years, and in our experience we have seen people set free through different and diverse manifestations.  The most common manifestation is retching, coughing and vomiting.  It seems that it has to do with the level of the demons involved and the level of demonization of the person affected.  I have also seen people be delivered while manifesting screaming, yawning, sweating etc.  There is no one specific set way.  I have been in some churches in the past where they do what you mentioned.  There are some ministries that have used this technique in their ministries and taught the churches to do likewise.  The use of the power and authority of the Name of Jesus Christ and the blood of the Lamb is what is important.  That is the most important issue.  As far as the techniques or methods used, they may vary with the person, ministry or church.

Personally I do not believe in passing out cups, napkins etc, but that does not mean the results will not be there.  At least they are trying to set the captives free through deliverance.  The majority of the Christian Churches 'do not even have that', sowe need to be thankful that someone is trying to help the people who have problems.  The things you need to watch for are: is there fruit?  Were the people delivered and set free?  Is there change in their lives for the better?  Does it glorify Jesus Christ?  What is the testimony these people have after deliverance?  If there is fruit, then I could probably 'tolerate' the technique they use.  On the other hand, if there is no fruit in the lives of the people that received deliverance I would seriously doubt their authority in the LORD to be doing what they are doing.

As we get closer to the end of times and darkness begins to descend upon this planet, there is going to be a great need for the people of the Most High to be prepared and trained in the ministry of deliverance.  Multitudes of people are going to need to be set free from demonic strongholds and bondages.  As we can clearly see, deliverance was a big part in the ministry of Jesus Christ Yahushua, as well as in the lives of the Apostles in the early Church.  The Church today needs to be doing deliverance ministry as they preach the gospel and teach.  Demons cannot be prayed out or preached out, they need to be cast out in the authority of the name of Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ taught His disciples how to do this.  What is most needed is training and teaching in this vital area, so that the excesses and errors that exist and abound today may be corrected.  Here are some scriptures:

Luke 7:21:  "And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight."

Luke 8:2-3  "And certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven demons, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered unto him of their substance."

Acts 5:16:  "There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and those who were tormented with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one."

Acts 8:6-7:  "And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many that were paralyzed, and that were lame, were healed."

Acts 19:11-12:  "And God did special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them."

THE HOLOCAUST

Q:  I have a question.  The Holocaust; was this God's wrath against Europe or against Jews, or if neither of these, then what?

A:  That is a very good question; the answer is not so simple.  This area of God's judgment is quite complex and controversial.  On one side you have the group that says whenever bad things happen it is the judgment of God; and in a way it is.  Then you have the other group that says that we are no longer under judgment but under grace, stating the God poured out His judgment upon Jesus Christ at the cross.  Basically that He took all of God's wrath and judgment for us on the cross and thus we are immune from it.  Both of these theological points of views do not reveal the whole truth.  It is much more complex than that.  I will try to explain...

The one thing that both sides fail to recognize is the fact that there is a very evil being called Satan who rules over a kingdom of darkness and has been in constant war against the lawful ruler of the universe YHWH.  This has been going on for eons, even before man existed on the face of planet earth.  Satan always tries to push the boundaries of his influence by manipulating the legal aspects of the Almighty's divine rules to suit his agenda.  He continually accuses those who belong to the Lord, looking for ways to undermine the Divine purposes of YHWH and to change these rules to his advantage through manipulation, cheating and lying.

Satan cannot do anything he wants, but is only allowed to work within the confines of the predetermined set of rules set in motion by the Creator. One of these rules is that neither side can intervene in human affairs except through the free will of human beings.  In other words, if a human being asks either side for help, then that opens the door for either Divine intervention or demonic intervention.  That is the only way that meddling in human affairs is allowed.  However, the enemy is not a gentleman and will usually not wait to get an invitation.  Something as simple as a door cracked open will serve as a signal to the dark side that they are welcome.

Whenever doors are opened to the dark side and they come into a person, a family, a city or a nation they have a legal right to be there and will bring with them all kinds of perversions, defilements, sins, iniquities, curses and eventually judgment.  Whenever this happens, the Almighty has no choice but to stand back and withdraw His protection and blessings, as His adversary is invited to come in instead.  Whenever a person or a nation is turned over to the devil, nothing good can ever come out of it.  Satan came to kill, steal and destroy.  That is his nature.  Whenever he takes over a person, family, city or nation that is exactly what he will do with them.  Plundering will come first, and then will come the killing and destroying.  There has never been a different outcome.

Whenver the the Jewish people forgot their Creator and rejected Him, and began to live in sin, corruption and began toworship pagan gods, all the blessings disappeared and they were replaced with curses and all kinds of bad stuff.  They were oppressed, persecuted and killed and then they began to call upon YHWH once again.  The loving Father always forgave them and sent them deliverance again and again.  This cycle happened again and again many times in the Bible. Likewise, whenever a man rejects the light and embraces darkness, it will always end up the same way.  YHWH is very longsuffering and slow to anger; however eventually, when the cup of His wrath is full from the sin, corruption, defilement, abominations, broken covenants, shedding of innocent blood and demonic infestation, His wrath is poured out.  The Almighty never takes delight in pouring out His judgments upon mankind, but waits until the last possible moment waiting for prople to repent.

The moment a man, a city or a nation decides he no longer wants to serve the devil and sin and repents, turns away from doing evil and embraces the only source of true life and light Yahushua, his life will begin to change for the better.  The curses associated with sin, iniquity and darkness will no longer be in operation; instead blessings and the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus will begin to opoerate according to scriptures below:

Romans 8:1-2 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death."

2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Deuteronomy 28:1-7 "It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the voice of Yahweh your God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that Yahweh your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading trough. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. Yahweh will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you: they shall come out against you one way, and shall flee before you seven ways."

Deuteronomy 28:15-19 "But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses shall come on you, and overtake you. Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading trough. Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your ground, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out."

In closing, the tragic fate of the Jewish Nation was a result of their rejection of the only true source of Light and Life, and their embrace of a carnal proud religious system that was based on dead rituals and the manipulation of the letter of the Law to suit themselves.  This opened the door to the darkness and the eventual destruction of the Jerusalem temple in 70 AD.  The devil, who has always hated the Jewish people was finally given an open door, a license if you will to plunder, kill and destroy them.  Yahushuah had no choice but to let their decision stand and let it happen. This was prophesied by Yahushuah:

Matthew 23:37-39 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is left to you desolate.  For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'"

Soon, in the near future the nation of Israel will get a second opportunity when they are surrounded by the countries of the whole world and they will call upon YHWH to help them and deliver them.  To their astonishment, they will see Yahushuah standing on the Mount of Olives.  Then they will say:  "Blessed is He who comes in the name of YHWH".
