Cuba

The Republic of Cuba is a beautiful island country in the Caribbean. The nation of Cuba consists of the main island of Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud, and several archipelagos. Havana is the largest city in Cuba and the country's capital. Santiago de Cuba is the second largest city.  To the north of Cuba lies the United States and the Bahamas, Mexico is to the west, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica are to the south, and Haiti and the Dominican Republic are to the southeast.  In 1492, Christopher Columbus found and claimed the island now occupied by Cuba, for the Kingdom of Spain.

Cuba remained territory of Spain until the Spanish American War ended in 1898, and gained formal independence from the U.S. in 1902. Between 1953 and 1959 the Cuban Revolution occurred, removing the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and installing a government led by Fidel CastroCuba is home to over 11 million people and is the most populous island nation in the Caribbean. Its people, culture, and customs draw from diverse sources, such as the aboriginal Taino and Siboney peoples, the period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves and its proximity to the United States.

Although we have been to Cuba many times since 1996, we returned in 2009 and met with an apostolic group of pastors.  We spent much time getting to know them and establishing a relationship with them.  They are a precious group of men and women who love God with all their hearts, and are hungry to be mentored and learn foundational principles in apostolic doctrine.  The Lord has given us a large vision for Cuba which we cannot fulfill by ourselves.  It is going to take others in the body to come alongside us and help us with the burden.

There is a great need in that country, spiritual, physical and financial, but I know that the Lord will do His part to make this vision become a reality.  Right now we are printing our books in Cuba and giving them to many churches in the province of Oriente and the adjacent provinces. We also helped Pastor Ivan with a farm that he purchased and growing food there to help feed his people and others in the neighboring areas. We also recently helped him purchase a small motto so that he can travel to different areas to preach the gospel and also to meet with other churches who are under his care.  If God deals with you about helping out in this mission field, please make a donation by going to the Donate page.

1 Peter 1:3-9:  "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold trials:

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

1 Peter 4:12-13:  "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, since you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy."

                                                                                        CUBA MISSIONS REPORT

We have been printing and distributing books in the Eastern part of the nation. We will not give out specific locations, names or other details in order to protect those who are involved in this work. The Church in Cuba is strong, but in great need.  As we have shared with you in times past, the church that we are helping in Cuba is struggling to put food on the table and feed themselves. After fasting and prayer at the beginning of last year, Pastor Ivan approached me about their situation and we agreed to help them obtain a piece of property with the purpose planting crops on it so that the church could feed itself.

We advised him to focus on securing the property and start planting. In the month of June 2019 pastor Ivan purchased some land, and the government gave him permission to begin planting on it. The church has already planted around 5 acres with plaintains, corn, sweet potatoes, yucca roots, pumpkins and watermelons.  Recently they bought some pigs (some are pregnant), chickens and now we are helping them buy 15 goats and more seed for the planting season. This will not only help them to feed themselves, but also provide food for the outreach programs that they presently have to feed the poor and needy in nearby neighborhoods. It is hard to do the work of the Kingdom on an empty stomach. The LORD will glorify Himself in all of this.

In the meantime, the Church in Cuba continues to preach the gospel and many people are being saved, baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Some pictures for this year are shown below. They are using our books as their training materials and also as guidelines for the daily spiritual battles that they encounter. We helped them print a few hundred more books this year to train their new converts and intercessors. The LORD has been raising up strong prayer warriors, evangelists and leaders in Cuba in spite of the lack of food, medicines and pretty much about everything. We are in the process this year to help them print many more books to take to the mountains.  Many are being converted and new churches planted there.

Covid claimed the lives of some of their pastors and leaders in their ministry. Church gatherings have also been under severe restrictions as well. Pastor Ivan and his family have personally suffered as a result of all these things, but they continue to faithfully carry out the work of the kingdom. Our vision is to fill Cuba with our books and training materials so that they are better equipped to win the lost to Jesus Christ and disciple them to do the same.  We will continue to work with them to conduct future Conferences throughout the Island as the LORD continues to enable us and as the situation changes. They recently successfully completed the construction of their new church building. We have posted photos of services in the new building below. Recently we also helped Pastor Ivan purchase a very modest home where he and his family can live and not have to worry when and where they will have to move next. They were very happy about this.

Earlier this year we helped them purchase some milking goats, chickens, pigs and seeds to plant.  Four of the pigs are pregnant and expecting piglets this soon. We also  helped them print a few hundred more of our training books to give to the people in the mountain areas. The people in those areas are very poor humble people, but they are doing a great work in winning souls and preaching the gospel of the kingdom to the lost. Our training books will help them to grow and mature in different areas of their Christian walk. They printed the books in spite of being without electric power for up to 14 hours every day. It's incredible what these precious people have to endure, but by HIS GRACE they are able to make it. We also recently helped them purchase a small generator for their Church. Just trying to make it a little more bearable for them to keep doing the work of the kingdom in Cuba.

I want to take this opportnity to thank those of you who have been faithful with your prayers and financial support.  Without you, we would not have been able to accomplish these things.  Please pray with us for the Church in Cuba as they endeavor to fulfill the great Commission under very difficult conditions.  May the LORD of the Harvest Bless you and reward you for all you do.  It is our hope that in the near future, the door to preach the gospel there will be totally opened so that all of Cuba will come to know Jesus Christ as LORD and SAVIOR. We will continue to provide additional photos of this effort posted by date, whenever they become available. Shalom ~

Acts 14:21-22  "And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch, confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God."
